META-NET is a Network of Excellence partially funded by the European Commission. The network currently consists of 54 research centres in 33 European countries. META-NET forges META, the Multilingual Europe Technology Alliance, a growing community of language technology professionals and organisations in Europe.
META-SHARE creates an open, distributed facility for exchanging and sharing resources. The peer-topeer network of repositories will contain language data, tools and web services that are documented with high-quality metadata and organised in standardized categories. The resources can be readily accessed and uniformly searched. The available resources include free, open source materials as well as restricted, commercially available, fee-based items.
LetsMT! is a cloud based Machine Translation platform where you can simply upload your data, train your own machine translation system and store it in cloud. By training your own, domain specific, MT engine you can speed up translation process and get significant productivity increase. Project is founded under The Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Program and It started at 2010-03-01.
The Language Shore project of the Language Intelligence Technologies Center aims to create a global achievement center in Latvia for technologies related to small languages. It is going to unite and coordinate the cooperation of research institutions, digital content organizations, IT companies, academic institutions and other institutions in the field of language technologies.
Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness. Running from 2014 to 2020 with an €80 billion budget, the EU’s new programme for research and innovation is part of the drive to create new growth and jobs in Europe.
Language White Papers
The META-NET Language White Paper series “Languages in the European Information Society” reports on the state of each European language with respect to Language Technology and explains the most urgent risks and chances. The series will cover all official European languages and several other languages spoken in geographical Europe.
Strategic Research Agenda
Strategic Research Agenda for Multilingual Europe 2020 (SRA) is the result of a discussion between hundreds of experts from research and industry. The main purpose of the SRA is to raise awareness for the field of Language Technology in Europe and attract the attention of and inform politicians and policy makers on the regional, national and international level in their decisions, especially with regard to the upcoming European funding opportunities in Horizon 2020 and Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
